Belly Update Week 34

Week 34... and two days... and feeling it. I have met Mr. Braxton and we are not friends. (For non mothers braxton hicks are contractions before the real thing) Everyday lately I have the false contractions but they are feeling less and less "false." They are starting to hurt darn it! With Jaxson the first time I felt a contraction it was the real thing. No falsies with him at all! We have found our way into February, a very short month although it may feel like the longest of the year. I have my appointment this week until Friday, will see what there is in store.

Week 34
Worst picture ever.. luckily I wasn't going for my model head shot. :)

 Week 32

Week 30

Week 27
Wow, to think I thought I was just enormous here at 27 weeks. haha....

Uneventful Event

Today was interesting, it was set in motion last night. Jaxson stayed at Elaines last night because we had to stop by Elaines on Saturday and he was so upset. Jax doesn't understand the concept of stopping by Grandmas, he always wants to stay. So she promised him he could come on Wednesday AND bring his jammies so he would stop crying. He was so excited when I picked him up from Mels yesterday ready to go to Grandma's. We met for diner and then Dave and I went to see a movie. We figured we should take advantage of a night off. After the movie we walked out towards the car and I realized I couldn't see. I could see blobs of color but couldn't make anything out unless it was directly in front of my face. I stood there, looked around trying to figure out what was going on. I told Dave and he tried to get me not to freak out. I was freaking out, I couldn't help it. Once we got home I was so puffed up and swollen my ring would not come off and my legs looked like sausages. I knew some of these things are signs of pre-eclampsia and was worried but knew that it wasn't an emergency.

I woke up without blurriness but I had a terrible headache. I talked to my doctor this morning and they had me come to check my blood pressure etc. My blood pressure was fine but they ran my sample and it came back with some abnormalities. Ugh.. I thought I was going to be sent home and told I was overreacting. Instead I was sent to Mercy. Carol met me as I stayed hooked up for a NST (non-stress test for the baby), blood drawn, and had my blood pressure checked every ten minutes. Super fun.. not! All my blood work came back fine and they decided I had had an optical migraine. I have never had a migraine but from what I know of them they make it so you can't function at all. My head hurt but wasn't what I would expect a migraine to feel like so I hadn't thought that could be what it was. Apparently migraines, especially ones that affect vision, are very common when you are pregnant. And many people only get them when they are pregnant, not before and not after.

As for the baby, he passed his stress test with flying colors. And he was not be very cooperative either. They have to have a monitor on him for his heartbeat during the ordeal and every time she would find him he would do a somersault or kick the little monitor and the heartbeat would disappear. The poor nurse had to try and try to get it so it would show the heartbeat. He certainly was moving around and didn't seem to be bothered my my blurred vision or hurting head at all. No pre-eclampsia for me! Thank goodness since I would hate bed rest! Although it would be nice to have a real excuse for not doing the dishes... haha..

Roll Away

We have been staying in alot on the weekends away from the cold wind and snow outside, like most Iowans right now. So today we thought we would do something fun and use a few of the free bowling passes that Dave had. It was packed when we got there and had a 10 minute wait or so. Which worked out perfectly to find a ball and get situated. They were so busy they were completely out of the toddler lightweight balls. The attendant looked around for a couple that weren't being used and luckily found one. They were still 6 pounds which was pretty heavy for Jaxson. When we got our lane we were set up with bumpers and a ramp for Jax. He LOVED it! And he did a great job waiting his turn patiently on the step. After each roll he would ask me, "my turn now?" It was so darn cute. He would run up and jump around when it was his turn and watch the bowl roll down. He was a pretty good cheering section as well. When Dave or I got some pins down he would throw his hands in the air and say YES! I did pretty good actually, thinking the baby is a good luck charm when it comes to bowling, but it is a pretty good workout. I was tired after the third frame and by the eight could feel the muscles that are probably going to be a little sore tomorrow. I let Jaxson do my last frame since I wanted to get a good video of him, but really I was just worn out. We will definitely be going back again soon!

I should also mention, Jaxson got ONE strike and that was the only time I helped him. Just sayin.....

Jaxson gets a strike!

About halfway through our game they turned off the lights and their were black lights turned on with all kinds of colored lights going. Jaxson thought it was pretty cool. :)

Just checking his score... almost beating his mother!

Jaxson did pretty good! And we thought about correcting his spelling but thought we would be "those" people if we said anything. :/

Cute Moment..

Dave was heading to the store to get some popcorn that he ran out of and has been craving. ( I know, it's supposed to be me craving stuff. Haha) Conversation went..

Dave: Hey, do you need anything from the store?
Me: yes, get some instant pudding in the boxes.
Dave: Why not pudding cups?
Me: Well because you get alot more in the boxes.. duhh
Dave: Jaxson, do you need anything from the store?
Jax: Yes!!
Dave: What do you need?
Jax: A BABY!

Haha.. Now I think he will be a little disappointed he won't be getting a baby in 10 minutes when Dave comes back. Heck, I wish it was that easy too! But I am glad that he at least wants a baby.

I also think I will begin to have more of these "cute moments" since Jaxson is talking so much more now and having conversations. Most of them only half comprehensible but hilarious. I will have to name these posts something. I don't want to use kiddism since that is a already used. Suggestions??

Silly Sleeper

Jaxson, now in his toddler bed in his new big boy room, has been doing great in his new bedroom. He has always for a long time now been a great sleeper. The last couple days he has still been a good sleeper just doing it a little differently. I always check on him before I go to bed, and Sunday was no different. I made sure he was in bed with blankets all tucked in and comfy. Then Monday morning he was still laying on his big pillow with two blankets all tucked around him... laying on the rug on the floor. Ok... Then last night he didn't want to sleep for some reason and was out of bed about 1,000,000 times. Finally I heard quietness coming from his room. So as usual before bed I checked on him and couldn't open the door for some reason. I pushed a little harder figuring he put something in front of his door. Nope, he put himself in front of the door. I put him back in bed and he didn't even flinch he was so asleep. Then today during his nap he didn't want one thing on top of him except one. His pillow directly on top of his head. This last sleeping choice worries me, I have a feeling he is going to be a difficult teenager to wake up with the pillow over the head routine already.

Has it really been...

More than two weeks since I posted a picture of my adorable two year old!?!?! Yes it has, which should be a crime! And it has been about the same amount of time since I have even turned my camera on. I decided tonight that I needed to take a picture, it just had to happen. Jaxson was due for a bath and has loved "swimming" lately so I grabbed my camera, and said "Don't Splash!" about a hundred times. He was so cute with his fresh haircut and big smile as he went swimming in the tub.

After he was dried off and in his pj's he went right back to wearing his fireman hat he got at Kid's Fest a long time ago, and playing with his big marble maze. It is one of the toys we don't get out everyday but when we do it occupies hours of time with him and for us too. It is actually really fun to play with!

Belly Update Week 32

Time is flying once again. Already another belly update as our new week starts. 32. Holy smokes, we could have another baby boy here in just 6 weeks. Which usually would sound like quite awhile to me but with how quickly our weeks have been going by, doesn't sound like much at all. I don't have my 32 week appointment until Friday but will very shortly be visiting them every week. This week on my pregnancy email I get that compares the baby to a fruit/vegetable,  he is 16 inches long, approximately 3.5lbs, similar to 4 naval oranges and heading into a growth spurt. Woohoo.. a growth spurt. I don't know if it is just winter time or if this little monster is preparing to be a competitive eater but I can't stop eating. I feel like there is no room for my stomach but none the less I will eat. I have been really trying to curb my sweet cravings and if want something sweet will have some fiber one cereal with a little sugar on top. I am always hoping this will fill me up, which seems to, for about 20 minutes. So, basically after the baby is born, does someone want to do one of those get in shape classes with me like Kosama? Seriously, I am going to need it. :/ I haven't been craving anything specific exactly but a weird food phenomena that happened is that I found that I now LOVE cashews. I can't tell you how much I dislike all kinds of nuts, walnuts, cashews, all of them. The only ones I like in small amounts are peanuts. But then I accidently ate a cashew that was on a salad and I fell deeply in love. I have since tried other nuts and nothing has changed with them. So basically two cashews and one M&M is the perfect combonation, one that I could eat allllll day long. I wonder if I will still like them after the bundle is here.

In other news, there hasn't been much, hence the lack of blog posts. :)

looks like a lovingly posed picture but really i was trying to see if i could pull down my shirt to cover my belly any more. i couldn't....

Two Pants, Two Days

Why can't a guy just admit that he wants new clothes?? Instead he just tries to ruin every pair he has. I am of course just kidding but Dave has seemed to be on a rampage through his jeans the last two days. Yesterday while moving some stuff around he put a permanent marker in his pocket... without the lid on it. So of course he stunk up the whole house trying to put googone on it only to make the color of the marker AND the jeans fade in that spot. Oh well, it could be his work pair right?

Then tonight he goes to get gas for the snowblower and instead of putting gas in the container he puts gas all over his jeans, longjohns, shoes, socks, and skin. So he walked in and the whole house smelled like a gas station instantly. I looked online and found many ways to get gas out of clothes but many of them take special ingredients etc. So, we will wash them and soak them in the different concoctions we read about but I am not hopeful it will work. Dave told me after he changed (and still slightly smelled) that the only time he saw anyone get gas all over them was on the movie Dumb and Dumber. Hahaha.... This is such a random post but it amused me. Hilarious..

Happy 3rd Birthday Aubrey

Jaxson's best little friend Aubrey turned three yesterday. They had a monday night birthday party at Pump It Up, a playground with the giant blow up things. Aidan, Jaxson's daycare friend, always has his parties at a similar place and Jaxson is so scared of them. This place in Urbandale allows parents to go on the things with the kids (different than the other place) so Dave was able to get Jaxson to have fun on some of the slides. I am sure with time he will love them but they are a little intimidating still at this point. And I was a little bummed that I wasn't able to go on them at all. Although I technically could have got on them, some of the slides were pretty big and the adults were going so fast they were flying right off the ends, so Dave didn't really think it was that smart with my big belly. He was probably right... but it did look like fun.

If you are looking for Jaxson in this picture you will not find him since he decided to be uncooperative and not be a part of it. Oh well....

Dust off those baby clothes!

I have been waiting to do this for so long. Well before we even thought about having baby number two I wanted to take Jaxson's newborn clothes out just to see how tiny they were. I had such a hard time putting them away when I finally did do it. While my dad was over playing with Jaxson Dave made new shelves in Jaxson's new closet. With that I was able to clear out  his old closet and fill it right back up with tiny, cute little outfits that I was so sad to see be put in that bin. I brought the bin into the living room and with every item I yelled for Dave to come in from the kitchen and show him how tiny it was, or how cute it was, or if he remembered when Jaxson wore this or that. By the fifth consecutive item being pulled from the bin Dave asked me if I was really going to do that with every outfit. Although my answer was yes on the inside, I tried to restrain myself and only do it every other outfit instead. My two favorites of the newborn stuff was two different things that Jesse and Michelle sent me when Jaxson was first born. One of them was the outfit Jaxson wore home from the hospital.

I have not bought any items for the new baby at all except one onesie that says little brother. I knew that with all the stuff I have packed away from Jaxson I wouldn't need much. But after pulling it all out last night I realized I might need a few things actually because we didn't plan well with seasons. With this baby due to arrive in March it will still be pretty chilly for much of March and get warm in April only if we are lucky. Well all of Jaxson's newborn stuff is from the middle of summer with his first month of life being July! So I might have to scope out a few pants or jackets that I can put over all of Jaxson's newborn onesies. And Dave thought I didn't need to buy any clothes... so much for that! hehehe

Grandpa Time

I haven't seen my dad in awhile so I invited him over for dinner. He surprisingly agreed and I was off to find something ot make for dinner. Jaxson and him played with Jaxson's new trucks while I made dinner and Dave worked on Jaxson's new shelves for his closet. :D It was cute for Jaxson and my dad to have time to play together. My dad is pretty good at playing with little kids and Jaxson thought his truck noises were hilarious. I thought it was hilarious when Jaxson tried to imitate them. I took my dad home around 8 with a huge bag of leftovers. I felt a little like Elaine! (She always sends us home with tons of leftovers!) And luckily there were plenty of leftovers for Dave and I both to have lunch today too!

Belly Update Week 30

I have now ventured into my 30's....weeks of my pregnancy that is! With it now being 2011 the due date seems to feel closer than before. Maybe it was because before I could say we are having our second son "next year" but that doesn't work anymore. Maybe it is because many pregnancies you have the baby at some week in the 30 range. (Unless your Jaxson Barry and decide to come at 41weeks) But maybe it is simply because it is getting close.

I have been feeling a little overwhelmed lately when I think how I am going be a good mom to two kids at one time. I know I worried about how I would handle just one baby and now I can't even remember what I did without him. I know that I will be very tired for at least 6 months with sleepless nights but that we will find a new routine and we will soon not remember what life was like with just one kiddo. It still worries me. And I find myself wondering about simple things, like how I can't open the passenger side of my car when it is parked in the garage so do I back it out first, then go back inside to get the kids, or do I try to put them both in from one side? And how do I put both an infant seat and a two year old in a cart and still have room for groceries?? Do I just make Jaxson walk, or do I just simply wait to grocery shop until Dave gets home?? I am basically wondering how I leave the house..... oh well, I guess I will just have to figure it out and cross my fingers that I come home with both kids intact. And at least part of my sanity. One good thing though is Jaxson has transitioned into his new bedroom perfectly and is actually sleeping better, longer, and taking naps easier (versus not at all like before) in his new room.

The other thing that I am beginning to feel mounting pressure about is naming this baby boy #2. Dave has said he doesn't want to talk about name ideas with anyone at all. I have stuck to this but have noticed that if I don't talk about it with all the girls in my life I don't talk about it at all! Dave doesn't like to sit around and talk about names for very long, like I do with female friends/family. When we do talk about names our list seems to just get longer, rather than narrowing it down any. I wonder how long the hospital allows you to have your baby named Baby Boy Barry? We might actually find out the answer to that question in March.

On a side note, we went to a New Years day party today at Dave's friend Galinksy. Jaxson played with a little (younger, but looked like the size of a three year old!) boy named Eli that was there, ate alot of food, and played with Uncle Dan. One thing that he loved was this chair... and I think it was just his size.

Happy New Year 2011

So I committed a blogger/photographer crime last night! I forgot my camera at home on our way out to meet Jesse and Michelle. Not only was it Dave's sister's last night in town, it was a holiday! I tried to get Dave to turn around but he refused. Sometimes my point and shoot is my purse or coat pocket and even that camera was left at home. Ugh.. I was so mad at myself!! We went to Raccoon River Brewery for dinner and the boys played pool. Yes, Jaxson included. That was the first time he played pool and I grabbed Dave's phone to at least get a picture, good or not. Jaxson seemed to be pretty skilled at the game and once the boys were done actually playing he rolled the balls around. He was really good at getting them in the pockets on the other side of the table. Now Dave thinks we need a pool table... of course. Everyone left the restaurant around 10:30, they were headed for Dan and Anne's and we headed home. With Jaxson becoming delirious we thought it was best to let him get some rest. We were home just in time to ring in the New York new year and then off to bed. :)
