We had our first visit to the splash pad for the year. It was hot and it was time to have some summer fun. When we pulled into Sam's house at the end of the street Jaxson lit up like a Christmas tree. We didn't tell him his friend had permission to come along with us!
The boys ran and played. And Asher tried to keep up best he could. I can't wait to spend more time this summer watching them splash away in the pool!

CelebrAsian
Jaxson's school is the only elementary school that teaches Mandarin chinese language so they got to sing a song during the CelebrAsian event downtown.Any students that could attend did so it was a mix of ages. It is so neat that he is learning something so unique. At least unique in Iowa. :)

School Birthday Celebration
Jaxson's Kindergarten teacher gave all the summer birthday kids an opportunity to celebrate their birthday at school. Months ahead of time we picked our date. The very last Friday of school. Jaxson decided he wanted to bring a special dessert and finally settled on dirt cakes. (Chocolate pudding mixed with whip cream with oreo crumbs on top and a gummy worm sticking out to look like dirt) We got all the stuff to make 23 of them and got to work. Just as I was finishing Dave commented he was surprised we could bring homemade treats to school.
My stomach sunk as I had this feeling that it was mentioned we couldn't bring anything homemade. I went to the email and looked and sure enough it as right there that it had to be peanut free and store bought. I get it, they have to be cautious and do what they can to prevent any health concerns. But now that I have 23 dirt cakes. At my house.
We had a quick change of plans and brought ice cream sandwich to Jaxson's school which the kids were probably just as excited about. I also brought him up a dirt cake for his lunch so at least he could show off all his hardwork.
When he got home it was such a nice night and it had sunk in that it was his birthday celebration day and requested to go mini-golf. We called Hopper and Lilah to see if they wanted to join and headed up to the mini golf park after dinner. The kids ran and ran and played very little golf. But in the end they had so much fun and were tired as they could get. Oh, and they are not disappointed about having 23 dirt cakes in the house. I might have let them have multiple a day. :/
