Say Yes to the Dress!

I have only been wedding dress shopping once. And I was the one getting wrangled into the dresses. It was an interesting experience with my 6 month baby bump. This Saturday I went dress shopping with Brit and I must say it was much more relaxing being a bystander. Brittany's mother, soon to be mother-in-law and myself sat as Brit modeled dress after dress. Some were easily a no, and others had to be tried on a time or two to know for sure. And wouldn't you know it all came down to a dime!! :D

I am now more excited for this wedding because I know what the bride will be wearing, but also because I found out I get to be a part of their special day! And not just any bridesmaid.. but the honorary maid of honor. Her brother will be standing as the "man of honor" but he can't be expected to perform the duties of the MOH.. such as helping with bathroom duties the day of... and whatnot.. :D And I am not the only family member in the wedding. Our Jaxson will be the ring-bearer! I think more than anything I am excited to see him all dressed up. hehe...

We had lunch at a renovated church in Grimes in between dress appointments. I learned some interesting facts about Kyle, the groom to be, from his mom. It was a really neat place with a framing shop, all kinds of house stuff (vases etc), window treatments, a full flower shop, and I am probably forgetting something!!

And I know that everyone is just dying to see the dress she picked out. It really is so stunning on her, although most of the dresses were. And I got some great shots of the "thee dress" and because I don't like to disappoint here you go....

Kyle, what are you doing scrolling all the way down here? Did you want to ruin the surprise?? Caught!! :D

Happy Birthday Aubrey!

Jaxson's longest friend, Aubrey Grace, turned four this month. I am pretty far behind on this post but am behind on everything related to this blog. I WILL get back into posting often.. i will i will i will.... (saying that more to myself than anyone else)

Anyway.. she had her birthday at the inflatable jump place that she has gone to the last few years. We have a few other families that always use these for parties too and Jaxson is scared every single time to get even close. This particular one lets parents go on the equipment (not all do) so sometimes we can talk him into going once or twice with us. The same happened this time..

But about halfway until cake time he started going on his own. He would only go on one of them but went over and over and over again. I wish he had gained the confidence earlier so he would have more time to go on it. Maybe we will do a free play one of these days..

The birthday girl with her dad

I had to go down a few times before he tried it himself

This is Jax going down the slide!! They go really fast.

Asher is going to have zero problems getting on this type of stuff. He was already trying to get on it!

The big slide with her dad

It's always a good thing when the presents are taller than you!

Baby Planking

What is planking you may ask? Well... it is old news since "Tebowing" but anyway....

Planking

To plank. To lay horizontally in a strange or unusual place. To plank you must lay horizontally straighten your body and point your fingers and toes down (towards your feet), then you must name your "plank" and post a picture of the creator (of the plank) performing the pose on Facebook.

Here are some examples of planking.

You get it now I am sure. It is silly and pretty dumb but you can't help but laugh when you see it. Last night as we were watching a show and getting ready for bed we found our Asher boy planking. And we couldn't help but crack up. It was so funny and he was so good at it!! I realized for it to be a true "plank" you have to take a picture and post so I grabbed Dave's phone and snapped this before he stopped. The real story was he was trying to get cars on the floor on the other side of the lego table. Once he got his hands on his brothers cars (Jaxson was at Grandmas and usually wouldn't let Asher even touch the cars so Asher was fascinated and wanted to play with them) he just sat there in his plank position and played with the cars. This picture is so funny to me and it's even better that he did this plank all by himself. He is so trendy in his young age....

Now if he Tebow's tomorrow I might start believing he is a baby genius.

Wedding Bells

One of my best friends is getting married!! We all knew it was going to happen, it was just a matter of when. Poor Kyle endured plenty of teasing and taunting from everyone about when he was going to pop the question. I am sure he glad that part is over but now it is on to wedding planning. :)

I met Brit when we worked at Victoria's Secret together. I was going to Drake and she was at Simpson. We instantly were friends and have stayed that way after moving on from VS. When she met Kyle she was so happy and giggly when she talked about him. I remember talking to her after they had gone a vacation together to Mexico for her birthday. She was so cute... And once we all met Kyle we knew why. He was so genuinely nice all the time. He and Dave clicked quickly and we always are the last to leave when they have a get together. (It might have something to do with the shuffle board in their basement.) We have been surprised actually that they have never met since they have many mutual friends.

Before there can be a wedding there has to be wedding dress shopping. Brittany asked me to join her for the event that is looking for a dress with her mom and Kyle's mom. I feel so special getting asked to come along for such an important day. It will be so fun to watch as Brittany wrestles with those giant beasts of dresses while two women try to pull and prod her in and out of them... over and over again.. And we will hopefully find something she falls in love with and if not we will have fun anyway.

I can't wait to see these two get married!! Their wedding will be beautiful since they are beautiful together..

Jaxson... a catch up post

He is so funny and outspoken now. Not around people of course, but around us. He wants to play silly games and will tell jokes. His favorite is.. "Guess what?? Chicken butt!" I taught him that and when I realized exactly how funny he thought it was I told him all the appropriate places for him to tell that joke. I have to start writing down all the cute things he says and does.. especially with Asher. When they fight when they are older I will have to read back and remember the times they acted like they loved each other. :D It will be good for me!

He is officially in underwear 100% of the time now. No more pull ups at night. I realized that I have been wasting money on those for several months now that he hasn't wet at night in a very long time. And he regularly wakes up at night at uses the potty.

He is still such a great eater. He will always.... usually... eat all the stuff I want him to eat off his plate first. If there is broccoli, steamed or raw, he will always eat that first and will always want more. He loves fruit of any kind and has taken a new liking to scrambled eggs. This doesn't really surprise me with how much he likes egg salad or hard boiled eggs plain.

I could not live without my little man. I can't believe he will be 4 this year. Four!! Doesn't he know I want him to stay my baby forever?! What is he doing growing up...

I absolutely love this picture. He was just cracking up at Asher. Who knows what he was doing. But to see him really laughing and loving life just makes me smile. His laugh is infectious. When I see this picture I can hear his laugh. When he is grown I will look at this picture and be able to hear his 3 year old laugh again...

Asher Joseph: 10 months

Asher is now 10 months old today! Can you believe I actually took the pictures AND did the blog post all in the same day. I am impressed with myself too. Asher had his nine month appointment just the other day and boy is he changing!! On November 10th he was 20.7lbs and 27 1/2 inches tall. On January 5th he was 21lbs and 29 1/2 inches. Wow.. in less than two months he grew two inches!! So instead of short and chubby he is 51st percentile for weight and 90th for height. I guess babies really do grow one way at a time.. out then up.. out then up. :)

Asher is such a talker.. and screamer. He is always jabbering away. Much different than his brother who was always the quiet type. He loves to take baths. When I am getting the bath ready he will stand at the edge of the tub and squeal in excitement. If I put him out of the bathroom and he thinks he is going to miss out he will cry and cry and cry. His very favorite food right now is carrots and I have let him have some juices lately. His favorite by far is orange juice. If he can see the sippy cup he wants no part in food, he just wants to chug down the juice. Asher has a way of finding everything he shouldn't have. I mean everything. You can scour the house of any little thing you think he might get and shouldn't and what does he do... pulls the covers off the heat register and will play with that. He has an amazing ability to play with anything you don't want him to. He has four teeth on the top and two on the bottom now. The two front teeth are the most noticeable and the two on either side just broke skin. He is finally drooling a little less, which means he now drools as much as a normal baby drools. He is really gaining confidence in his standing. He tends to let go and hold up his toys now as he is cruising along the couches. He even took one step three different times tonight! But that for another post.. I am going to try to get a video of it. I just love him so much and this first year is going by so quick. I can't imagine my life without my adorable little boy.

He was talking away at me in this picture. I just wonder what he was thinking about!!

I really don't think anything is cuter than baby toes.
Showing off his new found balancing skills.

Prince and Princesses

Jaxson wanted us all to be princes and princesses today. Jaxson of course was the King. He made us crowns with his building toy thingy's (I have no idea what they are called!) We each had one but Jaxson wouldn't let me take a picture with his crown. I tried several times but he is good at avoiding the camera when he wants too.

Victorious!!

They say fantasy football is just for the guys... Well, this year it was a ladies game! Anne (my sister-in-law) wanted to do a couples league this year. She mainly wanted to do it so she and Dan could see each other on Sunday's.. and Mondays.. and Thursdays. And she also didn't know a ton about football so thought this would be a good way to learn and become interested in something that her husband knows and loves. It was Dave and I, Anne and Dan, and Anne's sister Karissa and her husband Grant.

We had to think of a team name. Working at Victoria's Secret for years before the boys were born I thought the name Victorious Secret was appropriate. Here was my logo.

Somehow I made it to the finals with Dan even though Dave and Anne were dominate the whole season. We were both on a hot streak on the right week I guess. It was a close game the whole time. I checked the score before heading to bed on the final game and I had lost. It was 145 to 142. I was disappointed but was surprised I had made it that far. The next morning Dave checked the league page and it said Congratulations Victorious Secret!!

They had scored Dan's team wrong and gave him an extra field goal of 3 points. So I won by one point... 142 to 141. And now I am just waiting on my 60 bucks!!!

Preschool Update

Jaxson has been to school four times now and it has been easier to drop him off. Two times in a row there has been no tears at dropoff and today when I picked him up he didn't even want to leave!! Each month in the Wednesday class they do a new topic. This month is Rockets. The syllabus said they are going to explore rockets, why they go, and what can make them go faster. Yesterday he told me he learned about the rockets and that they go really fast. He even asked me to go outside and look for the moon. We went outside to look for it and he was so excited when we found it. He promptly asked where the sun was. He is starting to come home with questions and wanting to know how or why things do what they do. It is so exciting to watch him learn. And one thing I love about our preschool is he is learning about Egypt and rockets and the solar system, not just letters. I got this picture on our preschool website and I was so proud to see him sitting and paying such close attention!
