In years past our tradition of getting a tree consisted of going to a
store like Home Depot and picking one out that was in our size and
price range. This year we decided to go to the tree farm after being
invited by Brit and Kyle, who go every year. Due to a late night
birthday party for one Jax's friends and an early morning tree hunting
date, we ended up going the following day just the four of us. It was
such a nice day out and we all just jackets or sweaters on. Not what you
would expect when picking out a tree in late November.
As
we walked the aisles we tried to find the perfect tree that someone
else hadn't already wrote their name on. It wasn't an easy task. What
else wasn't an easy task was finding a tree that wasn't too large to fit
in our house. The trees we would have normally got looked small next to
the giant ones mixed in. Dave didn't want a "puney" tree. We finally
found one and took our ticket up to the main area. It isn't easy picking
out a tree in a place like that for Dave, who tends to be very
indecisive. As I expected, the drive home was filled with him thinking
we got the wrong one. And that it might not fit in the house...
Once
we picked it up the next week we knew it was going to be the biggest
tree we had ever had. And sure enough we had to take the loppers to it a
bit to get it upright in the house. We also don't have any tables in the living
room because there was no room left. So we have a couple couches and a
giant tree. The boys loved decorating it. Jaxson took this job very
seriously and Asher went into overdrive trying to pick up as many
"balls" as he could at one time. He ended up just throwing them at the
tree not understanding whey they weren't sticking like ours.
It
was a really fun afternoon decorating the tree and the boys loved the
finished product. They are still rearranging the ornaments. :)
